Fern Canyon

This past Sunday we went to Fern Canyon and explored.  Its a little canyon that you have to wade through the river/stream the whole way to get there.  But it is beautiful!  And its right by the ocean so you can see the ocean and  be in the mountains at the same time.  The pic above is after we got through the canyon and we were making the loop back to the car.
This was just a cool tree that I liked:)
Here is the beach and the canyon that we were in is not too far off in the distance to the right.
This was Fern Canyon!  It was basically a wall on both sides that went about 50 feet up and was covered in all kinds of different ferns and little waterfalls.
The trees are so darn cool, I just love them!
This was such a beautiful view of the fog rolling in.  What a pretty day!
Kade piggy-backed me a lot of the way cause you literally had to walk through the water most of the time and I had shoes on that I didn't really want to get wet. What a sport he was!
On our adventure, we saw A LOT of elk!  They are everywhere out here! It is crazy!  And they are all wild, but they are used to everyone always looking at them, so you can get pretty close.
The elk just hang around this little area, they are here pretty much all the time.
This was on the drive, so pretty!
The horses were having some issues getting along with the elk. The elk were laying down, enjoying the day and the buckskin horse came up to the elk and pinned his ears back at it as if to say,"Really, you guys have to park your whole entire heard right in our lush pasture!!?? MOVE ALREADY!!!!" It was hilarious! I was pretty surprised that the elk didn't move, it just got up and faced the horse in a very confident manner! Haha!
Upclose!  We were only about 20 yards from this guy, and he didn't mind one bit!  I love that you can see his little knubs starting to grow back! :) Kade loves this area because it makes him feel like right at home!
The deadfall was pretty cool looking!  Very big trees:)

Adventures at Trinidad!

Well, this past Sunday we had our first adventure! I love seeing new places! We decided that Trinidad (about 15 min from or house) looked pretty fun, so we decided to go there first. It was BEAUTIFUL! I loved it! The above pic is of a park that overlooks the ocean that has picnick tables to eat and just hang out.

There was this fun little bench that someone had made so that you can sit and enjoy the views, so I decided I wanted to sit and enjoy myself! hehe

I love all these flowers that greet you as you get out of your car. They grow right in the sand on the beach!
These were the biggest.......or I should say fattest surprises of the day! Kade and I were walking along the beach and we were so excited to see all the star fish that we didn't even notice the sea lions staring us right in the face! Holy Cow! I looked up and said,"Kade Kade Kade, there are sea lions!!!!!!" and he said, "Where" and I said, "Right in front of us, starings us in the eyes!" and he said, "OH!" haha!
They were just laying around, enjoying their Sunday as most of us do on Sundays! LOL

Call me crazy but I think they have the cutest faces! I've always loved white sea lions! I love the really white ones......maybe its because they look kinda like a white lab puppy????:)
We saw LOTS of star fish! Which was cool for us cause we didn't see to many of them in Hawaii.
Lots of ColorS!
We loved this big rock that came up out of the sand, kinda neat.

Our long staircase that led to the beach

Redwood Park

Well here we are in CALIFORNIA!! And I'm am loving it so far! Kade and I always love the summers for the "adventure" part of it! We usually try to go out early in the morning and explore or take a jog, and always on Sundays too. The other day, I was driving past Humbolt University and saw "Redwood Park" and thought, "That looks really pretty! We have to go there soon!" haha! So we did, the next morning, and it was BEAUTIFUL! Its only about a mile from our apartment. I think, I may be spending a lot of time here in the future :)
This stump is so cool, it looks like something off of Robin Hood!
This pic is my new favorite so far! LOVE LOVE LOVE It!

The trees are very tall, in fact, the current tall tree record holder is nearly 380 feet high, which is almost six stories taller than the Statue of Liberty! That was a fun little fact that I learned the other day!
I think this is suppose to be Big Foot or something......but it looks kinda like a hippie to me:)
The clovers here are huge! Like 4 times the size of the ones you see on your lawn back home! LOL.....I find weird things interesting :)
Yep, thats a big stump too! Its pretty hard to find a small one!

Driving to Cali!

Well, another summer has begun! We were excited when we found out that we would be going to California for the summer, and more excited when it was the north part! We are looking forward to having many fun experiences out here. On our drive, we went through a forest that really reminded us of the Boulder Mountain back home. The terrain looked very similar, so Kade has to pull out the John Denver music as we drive through this forest! Its a family tradition to listen to John Denver when your at the Boulder, or I should say it starts, "at the turn to go to the Boulder". It was fun singing along and enjoying the beautiful scenery. After we passed Redding, there was a mountain pass that we went through that was Stunning! It was so beautiful, but Kade and I wondered if it would ever end! It took so long to drive through it! litterally a few hours it seemed! The mountains were so pretty that I made Kade stop so I could grab a few pics.
So happy..........lol
I love these trees that have moss growing all over them! I think they look so cool! I love the look of the area out here. I love how tropical and green it is, but yet how mountainous it looks! Kade was reading about the area, and he said that he read were you may be able to see elk down by the ocean shore. I thought that would be a awesome sight to see! Hopefully that happens:)
We finally made it to our destination in about 13 1/2 hours! I can't wait to go see the ocean, I have missed it from living in Hawaii!

New Mexico!

Well, now that I'm in California, I'm going to have a little more time on my hands to blog a bit! yay! Well, last weekend we went down to New Mexico to see Kade's dad because we haven't seen him since Christmas! :( We really wanted to see him before we left for California. Tyson and Karissa joined us, which added tons more fun! :) We got to just hang out together, take a walk, watch general conference and go bowling. It was nice to just be together. I loved conference so much! And I loved seeing Kade's dad. It was nice to all be together and enjoy each others company!

Kade was excited to bowl, and he did awesome! And......we actually got this one bowling area all to ourselves too, so that made it much nicer!
